The Director/CEO Kenya Water Institute Prof. Patrick O. Hayombe, PhD. signed two collaborative agreements between KEWI and South African Weather Services (SAWS). The signing was witnessed by Mr. Leonard Makokha, Head of Department Management Information Technology, Mr. James Mweni Manager Human Resource and Administration and Mr. Eric K Wamiti Head of Department Short Courses and Curriculum Development who is the Lead Researcher in the projects. Due to Covid-19 containment measures Mr. Ishaam Abader, the Chief Executive Officer, SAWS had signed the Agreement witnessed by Dr. Joel Batai a Senior researcher at SAWS. The agreements create a framework for the two Institutions to conduct research in the areas of Water Energy and Food nexus and Climate Change Variability. Special focus will done on Developing a case study and guidelines for Water-Energy-Food (WEF) nexus implementation in Africa and Developmental Perspectives for Water-Linked Sectors in a Future Climate for Africa. The projects comparatively focus on Mau Catchment and Limpopo Basin. The funds for the projects were provided by the Water Research Commission (WRC) of South Africa. Two papers have been written and published by the two institutions have been published in the MDPI WATER Journal. These are: –
- Hydroclimatic extremes in the Limpopo River Basin, South Africa, Under Changing Climate.
