THEME: Accelerating change towards access to good water quality for sustainable
development

The Ministry of Water, Sanitation & Irrigation and Kenya Water Institute have organized a two (2) day Water Quality Symposium  on 25th-26th May 2023. This will be held at the Kenya Water Institute headquarters in South C.

The symposium aims to mobilize stakeholders around the issue of water quality. The stakeholders will benefit from knowledge-sharing and dissemination platform, exhibitions and innovations. The symposium will provide an opportunity for high school students, college students and youth to interact with industry/ sector players towards choosing their careers, entrepreneurship opportunities and in defining their role/ contribution towards protection and care of environment.

Symposium organizers have incorporated a water quality competition where students will exhibit art and essays on water quality thematic areas and the winner will be awarded during an award ceremony on the 1st day of the symposium.

Sustainable Development Goal 6 on drinking water, sanitation and hygiene also addresses issues of quality and sustainability of water resources, which are critical to the survival of people and the planet. The Kenya 2030 Agenda recognizes the centrality of water resources to sustainable development and the vital role that improved drinking water, sanitation and hygiene play in progress in other areas, including health, education and poverty reduction.
